The winter weather is making the chicadees and sparrows very hungry. In the first picture you can see two birds on the bell feeder, in the second picture is a very small bird right inside the bell feeder ! Today I saw at least 6 birds all at one feeder and about one dozen flying in and around the feeders. We also have a large Northern Flicker Woodpecker and a Downy Woodpecker visiting the feeders. I have to watch those pesky large squirrels they raid all the suet from the feeders.

I am still working on the mini quilt blocks 3 1/2 inch square. This was the challenge from the International Quilters IFQ http://www.friendshipquilters.com/ and http://www.friendshipquilters.com/sunSue/surf.php This site has now moved to a yahoo group. This challenge started Dec 8, 2008 but due to my fathers passing, my job loss, moving to a new city and buying another house that needed work, this project was put into the UFO ( unfinished objects)category. Well I have "blown the dust" off the project and started again.

Rita Kramme kindly hosted the Saanich Newcomers group Christmas dinner last night. Rita is a culinary arts graduate and made all the food for 20 of us, the food was superb .
I loved the Thai chicken wheels, broccoli salad and all the appy’s, they were so delicious, yum. It was hard to choose which desserts to try and she also made a rainbow cake that was so colourful and scrumptious.
When we were ready to go home Rita gave us this individual Christmas cake wrapped in fondant with a gold ribbon around it. She also crafted each of us a miniature Christmas tree from white sugar cookies. We were spoiled with delicious food, wine and wonderful evening.
